Jones reveals meningitis scare

'The Voice' star Jenny Jones was almost killed by meningitis.
The hopeful was shown auditioning on BBC singing show last night, and says it has given her new hope after almost being wiped out by the killer disease in 2008.
Jones was rushed to hospital when she collapsed after singing a support slot on tour with dance musician Basshunter, and spent three weeks in intensive care, at which point she lost her memory and power of speech.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I'd been suffering with severe headaches and one minute I was talking to my mum, the next I had pins and needles in my mouth.
"I remember trying to talk - then I collapsed. It's all really hazy. I remember paramedics being there but I couldn't talk to them. I thought I was dying. I was just crying and Mum was hysterical.
"It deteriorated from there. I was rushed to hospital and put in isolation. I lost my speech and my memory. There was a three-week period where they didn't think I would pull through. I don't really remember much because I was so ill.
"It got so bad I just felt like giving up but thankfully I didn't. I think my passion for music and performing helped pull me through."
Jones added she chose to join coach will.i.am's team on the show over Danny O'Donoghue because she fancies the latter and thinks that would make it too hard for them to work together.
Meanwhile will.i.am, who is joined on the show's panel by Danny, Jessie J and Tom Jones, was reduced to tears by singer Jaz Ellington, when he sung his track 'Ordinary People'.
Will.i.am said: "Here comes a little angel with wings and eyes that I can see in the night. Not only did he sing awesome, but he also blessed us with a better version of 'Ordinary People'."
